چکیده

We present a novel approach for the inverse problem in electrical impedance tomography based on regularized quadratic regression. Our contribution introduces a new formulation for the forward model in the form of a nonlinear integral transform, that maps changes in the electrical properties of a domain to their respective variations in boundary data. Using perturbation theory results the kernel of the transform is approximated to yield a high-order misfit function which is then used to derive the regularized inverse problem. In particular, we consider the nonlinear problem to second-order accuracy, hence our approximation method improves upon the local linearization of the forward mapping. The inverse problem is approached using Newton’s iterative algorithm and results from simulated experiments are presented. With a moderate increase in computational complexity, the method yields superior results compared to those of regularized linear regression and can be implemented to address the nonlinear inverse problem. keywords: Impedance tomography transform, quadratic regression, Newton’s method

Electrical Impedance Tomography for Geophysical Applications

We report on the development of a new software package for image reconstruction in threedimensional Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT). Designed for large-scale computations, the software includes mesh generation utilities, a simulator of the quasi-static electrical potential fields based on finite elements and regularized inversion algorithms. We describe in brief some of its main functions...

A regularized Newton method in electrical impedance tomography using shape Hessian information

Abstract: The present paper is concerned with the identification of an obstacle or void of different conductivity included in a two-dimensional domain by measurements of voltage and currents at the boundary. We employ a reformulation of the given identification problem as a shape optimization problem as proposed by Roche and Sokolowski (1996). It turns out that the shape Hessian degenerates at ...

Regularized Reconstruction in Electrical

This article describes a new approach to reconstruction of the conductivity eld in electrical impedance tomography. Our goal is to improve the trade-oo between the quality of the images and the numerical complexity of the reconstruction method. In order to reduce the computational load, we adopt a linearized approximation to the forward problem that describes the relationship between the unknow...

Magnetic detection electrical impedance tomography with total variation regularization.

Magnetic detection electrical impedance tomography (MDEIT) is an imaging modality that aims to reconstruct the cross-sectional conductivity distribution of a volume from the magnetic flux density surrounding an object. The MDEIT inverse problem is inherently ill-posed, necessitating the use of regularization. The most commonly used L(2) norm regularizations generate the minimum energy solution,...
